Saints Alive!!

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 426

ST ALBANS CITY - 1   [Stevenson 75]
SUTTON UNITED - 2   [Dundas p80 Scarborough 90]

With 2008 underway somewhat more successfully than 2007 (not that hard if we're honest) after the nerve shredding 2-1 win over Hampton on New Years Day, things are starting to look vaguely more hopeful. With results going our way, we suddenly find ourselves no longer cast hoplessly adrift at the foot of the table and seemingly miles from safety, but instead a paltry 3 points behind 3rd bottom St Albans and within spitting distance of the almost sanctuary like 19th place.

Nought So Far...

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 443

SUTTON UNITED - 0
ST ALBANS CITY - 0

With Saturday's less than satisfactory performance and one of the crew already left behind on an away trip, it could be said we've had a somewhat less than cracking start to this 'Blue Square South' campaign. Thus we're not sure if we really want to be getting a chance to put things right a couple of days later. But sadly, we must and we prepare to receive our old friends from St Albans at GGL for our first home game.

Hardly Surprising Really....

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 638

ST ALBANS CITY - 3   [Martin 14. Clarke 21. Marwa 74]
Sutton United - 1   [Watson 16]

When you've won only one of your last 19 competitive matches, the last place you want to go is somewhere like St Albans when they're sitting second in the table and scored a feckload of goals.

Yabba Dabba Do!

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 640

SUTTON UNITED - 4   [Quinton 6. 24. Akuamouah 53. Cornwall 76]
ST ALBANS CITY - 0

If you scroll back up a bit, you’ll see that after the disappointing performance down in Basingstoke, I commented “Saturday in Chippenham should be a right laugh!”.

Well, it fucking wasn’t.

Saints & A Sinner

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 515

ST ALBANS CITY - 1     [Fieldwick 79.]
SUTTON UNITED - 2    [Gray p29. Corbett 45.]

Another saturday, another six pointer for the U’s! And sadly, for such a good away days drinking, the crew is almost pathetically threadbare. Only Windy and myself are on the early train into London.

Saints & Sinners

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 575

SUTTON UNITED - 1    [Fear 85.]
ST ALBANS CITY - 2    [Clarke 52.78.]

What? It’s here already?? Oh bugger, it can’t be! We’re not ready yet! Tell them to come back next week.

What? We can’t? Oh arse. S’pose we’d better get it over with then....

Don't Be A Martyr...

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 514

SUTTON UNITED - 4    [OG 39. Bailey 40. Nurse 44.54]
ST ALBANS CITY - 2     [Browne 18. Willis 46]

It’s hard to believe that just 3 weeks ago, we were hammering the daylights out of our rivals over Xmas. As since that wonderful afternoon, our defence has slipped back to it’s bad old ways that blighted our early season form and we’ve conceded 10 goals in the following 3 contests. At least half of those being very very avoidable.

Patience Of A Saint Required...

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 341

ST ALBANS CITY - 2    [Wraight 9. Tomlinson 47]
SUTTON UNITED - 0

An early visit to St Albans is always welcome amongst the beerhounds. Mainly due to the large number of pubs. But certainly not because it’s a happy hunting ground for the U’s when it comes to the number of points we’ve picked up here in recent years.

CAMRA Carnage

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 466

ST ALBANS CITY - 2  [Brown 47.84]
SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Palmer 19]

On a list of foolish things to do, having a beer festival in the city of St Albans when we’re in town is pretty much near the top to be honest.

Remember Remember, The 5th of November

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 412

SUTTON UNITED - 2  [Gonsalves 38. OG 76]
ST ALBANS CITY - 4   [Smith 9.12.46.  Challinor 90]

Missing saturdays Trophy win (why do this lot ALWAYS win when I’m not around? Bastards!) whilst I was doing a rather iffy impression of a tour guide in London coupled with the following week off work threw poor ol’ Taz’s beer sodden brain into total confusion when it came to our home match with St Albans.

Red Socks

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 213

ST ALBANS CITY - 2  [Martin 42. Evans 52]
SUTTON UNITED - 0

Plans for a report based around a good old fashioned all day drinking binge were cosigned to the bin when St Albans thoughtlessly got themselves suspended from playing a week before our visit after their creditors got a bit arsey earlier this season.

Three into Twenty One

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 553

SUTTON UNITED - 1  [Boothe p57]
ST ALBANS CITY - 1  [Nabil 7]

And so it continues. Sutton’s incredibly crap start to the season is now firmly on track. Seven games played, no wins. Only 3 points won out of an available 21. Bag of shite.

Nurse! The Screens…

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 385

SUTTON UNITED - 4  [McCormack 25. Palmer 50. Baker 55. Boothe 77]
ST ALBANS CITY - 2  [Andrews 30. Pratt 66]

Bloody hell. Not only does this win at home gives us two consecutive victories for the first time in donkeys, it gives us our second ‘double’ of the season. I think I need a lie down...

This Is Getting Silly

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 452

ST ALBANS CITY - 0
SUTTON UNITED - 1  [Thompson 90]

Zzzzzzzzz, eh whassat?? Mmmm, sorry, must have dropped off there for a bit. I was just thinking back to yesterdays game and kind of nodded off. Strange that, can’t think why.

Sutton Stumble

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att : 924

Sutton United - 2  [Brooker 53], [Riley p65]
St Albans City - 3 [Gentle 24], [Clark p44], [Haworth 82]

Sutton's title challenge took another dent with their second home defeat against fellow challengers this season
