Down Down, Deeper & Down

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 482

SUTTON UNITED - 0
EASTLEIGH - 3    [S.Forbes 7. A.Forbes 26. Town 72]

After the less than stunning performance from the U's at Histon to herald the arrival of our new management team, we were hoping that 7 more days and 2 more training sessions would help towards getting something from their first home game in charge.

A New Era Dawns......D’Oh!

CONFERENCE SOUTH
18th MARCH 2006  Att : 409

HISTON- 3   [Bloke. Geezer. Fella]
SUTTON UNITED - 0

Without an away win since the end of August, we'd normally recieve a fairly long trip as the one to Histon with resignation of another pretty straightforward defeat during which the home 'keeper has to take half a pack of pro-plus such is the number of times we manage to trouble him.

Flattery Gets U’s Nowhere

NATIONWIDE SOUTH
Att : 668

SUTTON UNITED - 0
WEYMOUTH - 3   [Wilkinson 41. Clarke 43. Nade 68]

Way way back in the mists of time (well, the end of October to be precise) we made our customary drunken weekend visit to the seaside town of Weymouth. Then, what seems a lifetime ago, Sutton were a good side and unbelievably travelled to the title favourites down in Dorset actually sitting atop the division! Naturally, it all went down the pan from there and despite a battling display, mistakes cost us dear and we went down 3-1. A scoreline that slightly flattered our hosts somewhat.

Rooks Rule Roost Again

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 305

LEWES - 2  Beckford (4). Sigere (90).
SUTTON UNITED - 0

One of the darkest moments of a frankly dreadful campaign so far was the 5-1 home defeat to Lewes back in November. 1 down in under 60 seconds, the night got progressively worse from there and Lewis Gonsalves last minute scrambled header was the single bright spot in what was a pretty tortuous 90 minutes.

Stalemate

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 487

SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Gray p89]
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1   [Morison 50]

Bishops Stortford. One of those clubs we've been knocking heads with for years now, yet in recent years, meetings between the 2 sides have hardly set the world alight. The most common outcome has been a draw. With one season, 4 meetings producing 4 draws, with Stortford coming out on top in one of those, a cup replay, only by virtue of a penalty shoot out.

Bugger Bognor

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 331

BOGNOR REGIS TOWN - 0
SUTTON UNITED - 0

Ah! At last! Finally, after much waiting and a couple of disappointments, we finally get to go to Bognor for the weekend.

A Tense Atmosphere

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 518

SUTTON UNITED - 3   [Douglas 18. Scarborough 85. Gray 90]
CAMBRIDGE CITY - 2   [Booth 73. 86]

We've not been looking forward to this one much. Cambridge were always going to be one of the front runners this season and despite an indifferent start, were finally starting to find their feet. Culminating in a 4-3 win from 3-1 down against the same St Albans side that had pretty comprehensively outplayed us last weekend.

Hardly Surprising Really....

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 638

ST ALBANS CITY - 3   [Martin 14. Clarke 21. Marwa 74]
Sutton United - 1   [Watson 16]

When you've won only one of your last 19 competitive matches, the last place you want to go is somewhere like St Albans when they're sitting second in the table and scored a feckload of goals.

And Watson MUST Score! Oh...

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 367

SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Gonsalves  17]
HISTON - 1   [Nightingale p27]

Oh come on now. You can't be serious. This has got to be some sort of a wind up, surely.  The U's seemingly never ending run of bad form was extended another 90 minutes last night in a largely uninspiring contest with another fellow bottom-of-the-form-tablee, Histon.

Same Old Story

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 460

SUTTON UNITED - 0
BASINGSTOKE TOWN - 1    [McKay 26]

Is anyone else really really fucking bored of this crap yet???

No, I'm not talking about the match reports on here, I'm referring to our teams utter inability to er.....well, to even remotely resemble a football team.

Another Take Off Aborted

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 540

FARNBOROUGH TOWN - 2   [Sestanovich 61. Charles 78]
SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Douglas 59]

It’s Saturday blah blah blah, league game, yadda yadda yadda, one win in 16, rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb, playing shit, blah blah blah......you know the drill.

Saturday, 21 January 2006

Yep, False Dawn!

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 502

SUTTON UNITED - 0
YEADING - 0

And so it drags on.  Yet another Saturday, yet another depressing waste of 90 minutes.

Corner Turned, Or Another False Dawn?

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 536

SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Fear 27]
HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE - 1  [Baptiste 5]

Another Saturday, another game. It's well known that if your manager is fortunate enough to pick up the manager of the month award in your division, he's usually also fortunate enough to fail to win a game in the following month.

The Definition Of Offside

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 322

MAIDENHEAD UNITED - 2   [Hughes 6. Whiteman 56]
SUTTON UNITED - 0

Happy new year my arse. 2006 began in much the same vein as 2005 on Saturday with yet another miserable performance from the U's. And against another relegation threatened side.

44 Years And Counting

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 950

SUTTON UNITED - 1   [OG 43]
BOBBINS - 1   [Nwanze 16]

Before we start, I'd just like to wish all our readers a Happy New Year. And this is despite the fact that not one of you miserable fuckers out there sent us a card for Gandermonium's 8th birthday recently, let alone get us a cake, buy us a drink or even hold a lavish surprise party.

Wing And A Prayer

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 718

WELLING UNITED - 0
SUTTON UNITED - 0

New Years Eve. What a shit day for a football match eh?
Well done whoever dreamt that one up!

Are Those All The Lights You’ve Got?

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 1053

BOBBINS - 0
SUTTON UNITED - 0

My doesn’t time fly.  It only seems like a couple of weeks ago the season got underway and yet here we are, at Xmas already, with virtually half the games played. And Xmas means only one thing.
No no, not turkey. Or that fat bloke with a beard in a red suit. It’s derby time!

Better Hayes Ahead?

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 494

SUTTON UNITED - 2   [Gray 11. Akuamouah 16]
Hayes - 1   [Jeffrey 73]

It’s been a tough few weeks for the U’s. 2 shit cup exits (one of these to an amateur side with 10 men!) and given a couple of right going overs in the league, you can imagine the mood around GGL at the moment.

Another Kick In The Thurrocks

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 276

THURROCK - 5   [Janney 28. Cross 52. 80. Goddard 68. 89]
SUTTON UNITED - 3   [Akuamouah 18. Gray 87p. 90p]

If by any chance you find yourself confronted by a person or persons in the very near future quizzing you about a game of Non-League football they could possibly watch somewhere south of London, then the only sound piece of advice you could give would be the following.

"Avoid the London Borough of Sutton"

How Low Can You Go?

FA TROPHY 3rd QUALIFYING ROUND REPLAY
Att : 252

SUTTON UNITED - 0
UXBRIDGE - 1   [Swift 28]

Now, I realise that these reports do convey pretty much how I saw the game. But, in a case such as this where we were so utterly bad, I also realise that even my colourful use of the English language may not quite convey the full horror.
