Muffed It

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 1703

WEYMOUTH - 3   [Elam  2. Jackson 42. Bounder 90]
SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Watkins 46]

It’s the end of October. So that must mean a weekend in Weymouth!  Almost exactly 12 months to the day since we last travelled to Dorset for a match at the Wessex, we’re off down there again. And my, how things have changed. The main difference being that neither side could currently be described as ‘crap’.

No Drums Allowed!

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 495

SUTTON UNITED - 2    [Akuamouah 16. Cornwall 28]
EASTBOURNE BOROUGH - 0

Strange. Can anyone tell me quite why all of a sudden, after weeks of sitting about & doing fuck all on Tuesday nights, we've suddenly out of the blue been given a midweek game? Admittedly, it's been nice to come in, relax and more importantly catch the CSI double bill on Channel 5 the last few weeks, but why couldn't we have played this one in early-ish September?

Att : 640

SUTTON UNITED - 4   [Quinton 6. 24. Akuamouah 53. Cornwall 76]
ST ALBANS CITY - 0

If you scroll back up a bit, you’ll see that after the disappointing performance down in Basingstoke, I commented “Saturday in Chippenham should be a right laugh!”.

Well, it fucking wasn’t.

When The Chips Are Down

FA CUP 3rd QUALIFYING ROUND
Att : 725

CHIPPENHAM TOWN - 1  [Allison  2]

SUTTON UNITED - 0

When the draw was made, being paired with Chippenham received a mixed reaction from the gang. On one hand, it was a bit of a day out on the train, to somewhere we’d never visited before and an excuse for a few beers (like we need one anyway). On the other, we had to get up frigging early to travel out to a side who had absolutely smashed fellow Conf South’ers Newport 4-0 in the previous round and had won 5 out of 5 of their home games so far.

Crap Tasting Fags

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 213

BASINGSTOKE TOWN - 2   [Ray 25. 56]
SUTTON UNITED - 0

Let's be honest, away to Basingstoke is never the first match we look for when the fixtures are released.  It's not quite a 'Heybridge' in that it's in the middle of nowhere and they kick the shit out of you. In fact, the place has actually improved markedly from the miserable 60's concrete hellhole it was on my first visit back in the early 90's.
