Fantasy Island

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 727

CANVEY ISLAND - 1 [OG 47]
SUTTON UNITED - 3 [Jinadu 43. Bailey 57p. J.Nurse 88]

The last couple of weeks have been a bit ropey for the U’s. Losing a long unbeaten record at Bedford, then an awful defeat at home to Maidenhead, the captain & prized midfielder having a bust up on the pitch and a narrow, but abject 1-0 win over grossly inferior opposition in the County Cup.

Unsurprising Result

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 600

SUTTON UNITED - 0
CANVEY ISLAND - 1   [Duffy 26]

After picking up 3 vital points at Harrow during the week, the U’s faced another tough encounter, this time with title favourites Canvey making the trip down from Essex. As if their expensively assembled side wasn’t enough to deal with, their superb record at GGL didn’t exactly fill us with confidence.

If You're Name's Not Down...

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 643

SUTTON UNITED - 0
CANVEY ISLAND - 2  [Chenery 68. Gregory 82]

You're not getting in! Yep, like a spotty 16 year old with dodgy ID and black socks over their white trainers trying to get into ‘Legends’ on a Saturday night, our attempt to mildly crash the Ryman Premier title shindig failed the big test, with a disappointing 2-0 if not entirely surprising home defeat to 2nd place Canvey Island.

Bargain Bucket

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION - 31/8/2002
Att: 779

CANVEY ISLAND - 1  [Duffy 18]
SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Bolt 11]

With Sutton’s surprisingly decent start to the season still baffling us just a tadge, we headed to Canvey optimistic of nicking something.

Tale Of 2 Pens

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 808

CANVEY ISLAND - 1  [Tilson p45]
SUTTON UNITED - 1  [Haworth 62]

Going to Canvey late in the season was always marked down as a tough one.

Morroccan & Rolling

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 574

SUTTON UNITED - 1  [OG 29]
CANVEY ISLAND - 4  [Boylan 71. Vaughan 77.79. Knight 88]

Now, when you’ve played as badly as the U’s have in the last couple of weeks and hardly managed an effort on goal, the last thing you need is a visit from the team topping the table and unbeaten in 16 games. Sadly, we don't get to make the fixtures so this is exactly what we're getting today. Bummer.

Six on the Island

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 331

CANVEY ISLAND – 6  [Vaughan 22.46. Gregory 48. Tilson 53. Duffy 78. Clark 90]
SUTTON UNITED - 2 [Williams 48. Whitmarsh 55]

Match Reporter: Bob

Who went to Morcambe last season and came back thinking “How the fuck did we lose that 6-2?” when we nearly had them in the second half? Well I think I just watched the video repeat on Tuesday night. But in real life. The difference being one's cold and in fucking Canvey, the other's a video.

Identity Crisis

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 652

SUTTON UNITED - 0
CANVEY ISLAND – 1 [Vaughan 47]

Ah you bastards. After the flowing football of Tuesday night, we thought that an entertaining &  competitive game might possibly also ensue today. But sadly we were wrong. It was the second rate 5-3-2/3-5-2 ‘scared of our opponents/un-adventurous’ shite that saw us relegated last season that greeted us at GGL instead. Shame.

Treasure Island It Ain’t!

FA TROPHY 3rd ROUND
Att: 719

SUTTON UNITED – 1   [Winston 4]
CANVEY ISLAND – 0

After the U’s recent disappointing Conference form, I think it's fair to say we weren't exactly chuffed to be paired with Ryman Premier side Canvey in the Trophy. Currently sitting in the top 6 of our former home and boasting at least 4 ex-pro’s in their line up, this could have been a bit of a ‘nana skin for the U's to sidestep.
