Won't Be Long Now....

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 471

BISHOPS STORTFORD - 3  [Higgins 14. Edwards 39. Edwards 60]
SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Goodchild 76]

Dunno about you, but I had a cracking Saturday afternoon. There I was, at home, confined to my sofa, doubled up with flu feeling shit under my duvet with a big mug of lemsip. It was great.

Well, actually it wasn't.

Essex Ram Raiders

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 428

SUTTON UNITED - 0
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1   [Pearson 90]

Sheesh, almost Christmas already.

And what a pain in the arse it is. Have you ever tried to fit in writing up some load of old pony about the exploits of a currently rubbish non-league team amongst all the eating, drinking and general merriment that you have to endure at this time of year? It's not easy I can tell you. Especially when you're a bit of a lazy bastard as well. Like me.

Whale Song

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 516

BISHOP'S STORTFORD - 3  [Porter.12 Edwards.58 Morgan.83]
Sutton United - 2   [McBean.43 Alimi.78]

After a somewhat frustrating and really quite dull 2 week break from Conference South action, the U's were back on the road with a trip to surprise league leaders Bishop's Stortford.

Stalemate

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 487

SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Gray p89]
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1   [Morison 50]

Bishops Stortford. One of those clubs we've been knocking heads with for years now, yet in recent years, meetings between the 2 sides have hardly set the world alight. The most common outcome has been a draw. With one season, 4 meetings producing 4 draws, with Stortford coming out on top in one of those, a cup replay, only by virtue of a penalty shoot out.

Unhappy Hunting Ground

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att : 364

BISHOPS STORTFORD - 2   [Hodges 28. Jackman 55]
SUTTON UNITED - 1   [Castledine 49]

When you’re having a good start to the season, the last thing you need to throw a spanner in the works is a visit to a ground where you’ve never won. Oh look, Bishops Stortford away!

New Pants Please!

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 340

BISHOPS STORTFORD - 3     [Parmenter 21. Martin 67. Hakim 77.]
SUTTON UNITED - 2      [Vansittart 76. Hunter 88.]

Having swerved Saturdays 3-0 dumping at Hornchurch, it’s back into the old routine for Taz and a midweek trip to Stortford as the U’s continue to search for those 3 points that will guarantee their Conference South status for next season.

Dull & Wet

CONFERENCE SOUTH
Att: 457

SUTTON UNITED - 0
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 0

With the U’s participation in the FA Cup once again over far earlier that us and no doubt our bank manager would have liked, we’re back to league action with the visit of our old friends from Stortford.

All Left Very Late

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 457

BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1   [Bunn 86]
SUTTON UNITED - 1    [Boosey 85]

So far this season in 3 meetings with Stortford, it’s taken a penalty shoot out to seperate the sides with the other games ending level. And with both sides sitting 10th & 11th and in decent form, we’re not exactly expecting to go up there and have the 3 points sewn up inside 20 minutes.

Paying The Penalty

FA CUP 2nd QUALIFYING ROUND REPLAY
Att: 347

BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1    [Langer 80]
SUTTON UNITED - 1    [Collins 76]

AFTER EXTRA TIME.
BISHOPS STORTFORD WIN 5-3 ON PENS

So, the U’s FA Cup crawl (well, it’s hardly a sodding ‘run’ is it?) struggled into Bishops Stortford yesterday evening, with us hoping to improve on Saturdays somewhat dour showing so we could make the next round.

Another Year, Another Chance

FA CUP 2nd QUALIFYING ROUND
Att: 429

SUTTON UNITED - 0
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 0

Following on from the erratic report from Tuesdays trip to Maidenhead, I’m afraid this one may be also a bit on the flaky side. Unfortunately, your intrepid match reporter somehow managed to forget his little notebook & pen this afternoon. Which, when said person has acquired the short term memory that would make your average goldfish look like an elephant, isn’t good.

Roy Essen-D'OH!

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 503

SUTTON UNITED - 2     [Bolt 10p.83p]
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 2    [Barnett 87. Essandoh 90]

Match Reporter: Nick The Greek

With the usual group looking depleted, no Taz (something about culture and Salt mine, more like young lady and knickers), and no Chalmers (last seen heading off to pick Celery in Wales), Gareth (hangover intact) and I decide to head straight past the Hood and onto the Club bar for our pre-match bevy, we are soon met by Bob and Belly.

Stop Start

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 365

BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1   [Renner 67]
SUTTON UNITED - 0

The U’s returned to action after a 2 week break, forced upon us when our 2 scheduled opponents selfishly decided to play cup matches rather than face us. The big wusses.

Thou Shalt Not Pass!

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att: 491

SUTTON UNITED - 2  [Bailey 80. Fowler 85]
BISHOPS STORTFORD - 1  [Paul 21]

Following our scraped win over struggling Boreham Wood on Saturday, another side hanging around the lower reaches rolled into town last night and once again, the U’s won through, but once more the manner of the victory was somewhat...er...unconvincing.

Bishops To The Edge

RYMAN PREMIER DIVISION
Att : 732

Sutton United - 2  [S.Watson 8], [M.Watson 72]
Bishops Stortford - 0

The abberation of Tuesday night was forgotten as Sutton continued their pursuit of Aylesbury at the top of the Ryman Premier with a comfortable, if laboured win over bottom placed Bishops's Stortford.
